In her work as a consultant, Malene is very preoccupied with innovation and inventive thinking to make improvements for patients and society. She has thoroughly studied the field of patient reported information (PRO) and is preoccupied with the way in which it can be used in practice.

Malene is specialised in the high technologic profession of nuclear medicine that studies the function of tissue, organ or bone by injecting small doses of radioactive substances. In January 2024, she became a Clinical Professor at the Research Unit of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine, anchored at OUH and SDU.

Malene emphasises that innovation gives great value to the patients and employees, and i.a. she has completed a scanning method evaluation in collaboration with the unit of Medical Technology Assesment at OUH. The scanning method was later implemented at OUH.

As a senior researcher for CIMT, Malene contributes great research experience in both somatics and psychiatry, and she has many years of experience as a consultant to both PhD and master students. Malene’s latest research has especially focused on the use of the scanning method of PET/CT in cases of female cancer types.
