New Centre of Clinical Excellence to research severe obesity
The new centre, HELIOS, is located at Esbjerg and Grindsted Hospitals and will focus on a broad-spectrum effort against severe obesity.
The centre will not focus so much on the patients' weight, but researching diagnosis, treatment, prevention as well as on the societal factors that contribute to obesity and its consequences.
Over the next five years, the Region of Southern Denmark will invest 7.5 million DKK in the centre to examine how best to prevent and treat the diseases that often occur when patients suffer from severe obesity.
CIMT will contribute to the work in HELIOS with health economic analyses.
