Apps save you the trip to the hospital

In the future, patients may be able to save the trip to the hospital with the help of apps.

By connecting, for example, a blood pressure device or other measuring equipment to your smartphone via apps, you can send data to the doctor and thereby replace a visit with a press of the send button on the smartphone.

The technology promotes the possibility of being in one's own home during a treatment and follow-up phase of a treatment course. We are already familiar with the smartphone and most people use it every day, but when it is to be used for treatment, we must have data security under control.

CIMT researcher Dorthe Boe Danbjørg and daily manager of CoLab Odense, Mette Damkjær Syse, have written an article about the possibilities, but also the new barriers encountered when using the technology. Read it in Danish.

The illustration shows the procedure for patients who can measure their blood pressure at home and send the results electronically.
