Kathrine Rayce PhD
On Wednesday 23 September, Kathrine Rayce defended her PhD thesis entitled "Telemediated home training for patients with very severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)".
In her research project, Kathrine has investigated what telemediated physical training means for patients with very severe COPD and their relatives in everyday life, as well as for the practice of physiotherapists.
The assessment committee consisted of:
- Associate Professor Finn Olesen, Information Science, School of Communication and Culture, Aarhus University
- Professor Lis Ribu, Department of Nursing and Health Promotion, Oslo Metropolitan University
- Associate Professor Mette Juel Rothmann, Research Unit of Endocrinology and Steno Diabetes Center Odense, Department of Clinical Research, University of Southern Denmark (chair)
Assessor Lis Ribu was – of course one is tempted to say with the theme of the thesis in mind – present via video from Norway.
Lisbeth Rosenbek Minet was the main supervisor.
Congratulations to Kathrine on the extensive project and great result! Both assessor Finn Olesen and supervisor and Head of Research at CIMT Kristian Kidholm emphasised the importance of research projects like Kathrine's in a time when technology is gaining more and more traction. It is not sufficient to assess treatment and technology, it is also central to look at how technology and new forms of treatment affect and are affected by becoming a larger part of our lives.
