UCL strengthens the focus on technology in health education
It makes no difference making new, innovative technology available in hospitals if the staff cannot use it and translate the technology into value for the patients.
That is why the UCL University College are now strengthening their efforts for technology in health education. This means that in the future, the students will be much better equipped for the reality they encounter when they finish the education and get a job. A reality where technology is a natural part, just like in the rest of society.
The strengthened focus on technology manifests itself concretely in three areas:
- All students in UCL's health education programmes receive a course on understanding technology.
- Lecturers in UCL's health education programmes receive a competence development course on understanding technology.
- UCL offers a new elective course in XR (common term for virtual, augmented and mixed reality) with a focus on the technology's potential applications in a healthcare context.
