App connecting new parents with the hospital

The project was to study if telemedicine may be a possible solution when mother and child are discharged shortly after birth.

AIM

By means of the research design participatory design, the project was to study how new families could be supported in the best way when going home shortly after birth.

The first phase of the project emphasised the need for a personalised postnatal course after the discharge from hospital, where families could easily contact the health services.

RESULTS

The PhD project was the beginning of the successful app My Hospital, which was launched at the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics in Svendborg during the course of the PhD project.

The app satisfies the needs of the families because the families are given personalised information and counselling, and the app provides easy contact with the health services. The project showed that peace of mind in the period after ambulatory childbirth may potentially be ensured by means of health technology.
