PERSONAE – personalised digital treatment

In the project PERSONAE (personalised digital treatment of depression), a digital solution is being developed for the treatment of patients with depression. Although a significant proportion of both Danish and international patients have depression, there are few patients who receive actual treatment. Therefore, there is a need to rethink treatment strategies in this area.

PROJECT PERIOD

Start: 2023
End: 2027

Implementation of PERSONAE is expected to contribute to reducing waiting times at both the general practitioner and in psychiatry. Furthermore, it will be possible to monitor patients with mild symptoms and, with the help of AI, determine whether there is a need for other treatment. By treating more patients efficiently and thereby freeing up resources, PERSONAE is designed to create value for the healthcare system. The project consists of seven work packages, the last of which aims to make an economic evaluation on the basis of a randomised controlled study.

AIM

The purpose of the project is to perform a cost-effectiveness analysis on the basis of a randomised controlled trial. In the project, the newly developed tool MAS-AI is used for the evaluation. The economic analysis must provide insight into the potential benefits for the healthcare system by introducing a digital treatment solution for patients with depression. Data is collected for the costs of investment, treatment in psychiatry and somatics, treatment by one’s own doctor, sick leave and medicine. In addition, the analysis includes the patients’ own costs, including transport, medicine and time consumption. In addition, data on the effect of the treatment is collected on an ongoing basis. The costs are compared with the effect to calculate the ratio between costs per patient and effect.
