Overview of patient use of the app My Hospital

More than 25 clinical departments at Odense University Hospital (OUH) have patient courses in the app My Hospital, and between 20,000 and 25,000 patients used My Hospital in 2017.

PROJECT PERIOD

Start: June 2019
End: December 2019

But assessments of apps for patients at OUH and other hospitals show that only a small percentage of patients use apps and that they often stop using the app after a short period of time. This means that the departments must improve their patient courses regularly, and the best basis for developing the app is data on the patients’ activity in the app.

The data exists in My Hospital as complex data files, but it requires great effort from each department to make data accessible and comprehensible as tables and figures.

AIM

The aim of the project was to ensure that data files are automatically converted to figures and tables which each clinical department can read and use as a basis for improving the app My Hospital.

The project should:

  1. find the types of statistics and graphs that the clinical staff needed to assess the patients’ use of My Hospital.
  2. develop a module with MedWare to make data accessible and easy to understand.
  3. test the module in clinical wards.
  4. fine-tune the module before it could be distributed to all departments.
