Implementation of the resource and task management system RoOS

On Wednesday 20 June, innovation consultant Eva Lund and Kim R. Kristensen from Clinical IT held a meeting with several of the department managers at OUH to create interest in implementing RoOS by Nobly, which is a resource and task management system. The system has been developed in three of the hospital's departments, and senior doctors from these attended to share their experiences.

Many inquisitive and curious department managers showed up to the meeting, where they could hear Eva talk about the benefits of RoOS. These benefits include, among other things,

  • A task management system where you can communicate on the patient's path through the system
  • Use across multiple platforms
  • Adaptation to relevant task types for the departments
  • Time saving
  • Easy and fast digital communication

The three senior doctors who had attended to give a presentation on the preliminary results were senior doctor Jens Højberg Wanscher from the Department of ORL – Head & Neck Surgery, senior doctor Jesper Pindbo Vestergaard, Department of Ophthalmology, and Jens-Aage Sørensen, senior doctor from the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Common to them was that before the implementation of RoOS, some of their staff were headed towards a diagnosis of stress. This was due to a physical distribution of forms and work assignments, which is why the staff were often disturbed. Therefore, the departments saw RoOS as a possible aid to avoid disruptions by making communication digital around patient processes.

The department heads said that after the implementation of RoOS, they experienced a systematisation in both the daily tasks and the forms that patients and clinicians previously had to fill out physically. In addition, all three departments also experience that time is saved through RoOs, as the staff is disturbed less, and this provides a better flow in everyday life. At the same time, it is possible to receive messages when a pending task has been completed, which gives a better sense of the task flow in the department and more air in everyday life, as before it had to be manually checked whether a task had been completed and a new one could be started. In conclusion, it was important for them to emphasise that the patients also benefit from the implementation. They get through the system faster, and the whole process seems more modern as communication is digitised.
