Large TTRN conference on telemedicine

These days, TTRN (Transatlantic Telehealth Research Network) is holding its annual conference on telemedicine – this time at Aalborg University in Copenhagen.

TTRN is a collaboration across the Atlantic, where researchers within the field of telemedicine learn from each other’s experiences and ideas from very different health systems.

The conference’s participants come from 11 different countries, so there is ample opportunity to learn more about not only Danish and American results and solutions, but also from other parts of the world. Alan Leventhal, the American ambassador to Denmark, also stopped by the conference together with two health diplomats.

CIMT widely represented

Kristian Kidholm, head of research and professor at CIMT and a member of both the scientific committee and organising committee for the conference, chaired two poster sessions and held a key note presentation on the challenges of digital transformation and how to deal with them in practice. One of his central points was that uncertainty about the quality of video calls among health professionals can be a barrier to the spread of this type of treatment. There is a need for staff training and knowledge of the many studies with positive results in order for us to succeed in the implementation of video calls to patients.

PhD student Camilla Littau Nielsen from Hans Christian Andersen Hospital for Children and Adolescents at Odense University Hospital presented the results from her studies of mental health in parents of children with cancer, just as PhD student Rasmus Søgaard Hansen presented his project on AI to diagnose cancer in hematuria patients.

In addition, Jane Clemensen, professor and senior researcher at CIMT, gave a presentation on compassion in the healthcare system and the database for evidence-based telemedicine was also presented at the conference by MTV consultant Ida Wagner Svendsen.
