Joint agenda for ward rounds
When admitted to the hospital, the ward round has a significant role as the forum, where the patient can to talk to the doctor and the nurse about the course of treatment. Literature shows that patient involvement at the ward rounds is generally limited and it has proved difficult to change the role of the patient to a more active participant.
This project contributes to development, implementation and assessment of digital tools, which can further joint agenda with patients and relatives at ward rounds.
AIM
The aim of the project is to develop new digital tools which contribute to the patient and relatives participating as active players in planning their own care and treatment.
The project is divided into three sub-projects, whereby the digital tools are developed, tested and evaluated using the Participatory Design method.
- In the first sub-project, the users’ needs during ward rounds are uncovered using participant observations and focus group interviews.
- In collaboration with patients, relatives and staff, an app solution is developed, based on the regional app My Hospital, to support a common agenda for ward rounds.
- The developed solution is evaluated by laboratory tests and tests in clinical practice.
