– Conference, Oct 11th: Infection Control and Innovation 2017

For the second year in a row Odense University Hospital would like to invite all interested parties to this unique event combining health technology innovation and infection control and prevention.

About the conference

Infection control in hospitals is an area in continuous development. Innovative hospital constructions and technology developments are bringing in new possibilities for infection control but also pose new challenges in the field.

The conference takes a look at some of the challenges modern hospitals face: How do we best keep hospital wards and patient rooms clean and safe – and create smooth processes for room disinfection and patient turnover? With more and more processes becoming digital, how can we keep patients and data safe, while at the same time benefiting from the available data flows and using them to provide personalized healthcare diagnostics and care? On a global scale there’s a rising problem with microbiotic resistance caused by overuse of antibiotics in healthcare and other industry sectors such as agriculture – which new technologies and solutions can be used to solve some of the issues leading to use of antibiotics and how should they be deployed for maximum benefit?

The one-day conference event in Odense seeks to examine these questions and give room for discussion and networking between peers through sessions focused on themes such as

  • non-toxic room disinfection (probiotics, UV-C light)
  • multiresistant bacteria and technology aimed at relieving the problem
  • wearable technology and security in “digital healthcare”

Speakers include pioneers in probiotic disinfection methods and infection control specialists and people engaged in the fight against the rise of multiresistant bacteria such as Dr. Charles Alessi, UK, Senior Adviser to Public Health England and Director of Antibiotic Prescribing for Public Health England as part of the Antimicrobial resistance initiative.
The speaker line-up also includes European experts on digital security, health futurist Bogi Eliasen and wearables expert Alexandros Giannakis, the  EALA Lead for Connected Health in Accenture Consulting.
Alexandros joins the conference for a keynote organized in collaboration with Accenture Denmark.

The purpose of the event is to bring people with different backgrounds together to create fruitful synergies. The conference delegates will be people who work in the field of infection control, from scientists and researchers to infection control specialists in hospitals and technicians and vendors from the industry.
